Our school

Thargomindah is situated 200 kilometres west of Cunnamulla and lies on the Bulloo River. Approximately 250 people reside in the town.

The school has a population of 28 students from Kindy to Year 6. Thargomindah is a part of the Remote Kindy Pilot and offers a quality early childhood program. The school has sustained gradual growth over recent years. The school community covers a wide range of socio-economic groups and parental expectations from the school community are high.

Thargomindah State School has a teaching staff with varied professional experiences, who provide a wide range of academic, cultural and sporting programs. The school is very well supported educationally and financially by an active P&C Association.

The school is administered by a teaching Principal and Administration Officer. Thargomindah State School has a P-2 class teacher, a 3-6 class teacher and 3 teacher aides. We also have a part-time cleaner and grounds person. Thargomindah State School provides a quality teaching and learning program across the key learning areas for all students in Years  - 6. We cater for students with special needs through the development of fully integrated programs. Our students are involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities and cultural programs.

In 2012 a Remote Secondary Learning Facility opened on the grounds of Thargomindah State School. This is a shared project between the Charleville School of Distance Education, Bulloo Shire Council and Thargomindah State School. In 2017, we have 3 students enrolled in this facility supported by a teacher aide.
